How to Open a Regular LandBank Savings Account.

A brief overview

The Land Bank of the Philippines is one of the Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs), along with PhilHealth, the SSS, and the PNOC. Compared to some commercial banks, such as Metrobank, the required maintaining balance for a LandBank regular savings account is relatively low at ₱500.

Opening an Account

Step 1: Go to Landbank Online Account Opening

Select the account type you want.

Step 2: Fill in the form.

Step 3: Click proceed with application.

Step 4: Fill in the second part of the form.

Step 5: Click Next .

Fill in all the required form fields. If an item does not apply to you, click the appropriate button. After completing all the fields, click Save and Exit or Next. A DOBS confirmation file in PDF format will be generated to confirm your account opening application. Please note that this acknowledgment and its application number are valid for only 30 days.

Step 6: Click the “Next” button if you’re sure of the first part of the form or “Back” if not.

At the time of this writing, Landbank is currently updating their DOBS site, so you might get the following message before you can proceed to review the form page.

Step 7: Review the details you provided in form fields.

Step 8: Click submit button if you’re sure with your review or click back if you’re unsure.

Step 9: Print your DOBS account opening confirmation

After submitting the form, the website will generate an acknowledgment file that you can bring to the branch to complete the account opening process.

Step 10: Bring your DOBS acknowledgement file and documents to the nearest LandBank branch.

Because LandBank is a government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC), it handles a high volume of daily transactions. As a result, expect long queues and extended waiting times, especially since it also provides services for the Department of Education (DepEd) and local government units (LGUs).

To minimize your waiting time, arrive before the branch opens at 8:00 AM. I recommend arriving by 7:40 AM. In my experience, I arrived at 9:10 AM to open an account and was assigned queue number 80, even though the counter had just started serving number 0. I was not assisted by a customer service representative until after 2:00 PM.

List of documents/requirements to bring

  • DOBS acknowledgement
  • Supporting document you selected while filing in the Dobs form. In this example, I chose birth certificate
  • Government issued ID: Driver’s license, PRC, BIR TIN number
  • 500 php deposit for maintaining balance

Step 11: Fill in the account opening form at the branch.

The CSR at the account opening section will provide you with the necessary forms. Complete the forms and sign the signature form in the designated areas. By this point, you will already have an account number. If the branch’s card printing machine is operational, you can receive your ATM card on the same day. Otherwise, you may have to wait up to two months, depending on the branch.
